Margaret "Peggy" Ruth Steinke, age 82, of Whitehall, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls from Parkinson's disease.

Peggy was born on November 2, 1935 in Elgin, IL to William and Ruth (Troupe) Bailey. She married Lester Steinke on March 2, 1955 in Mason City, IA. Together they farmed in Augusta, moving to Pleasantville in 1961 and then to Fly Creek in 1970. Lester preceded Peggy in death on November 19, 1994.

Peggy was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and was active in its various organizations. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Tri-County Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliary. Peggy was active in spreading the word of what Parkinson's disease is all about.

Peggy is survived by three sons, Howard (Carol) Steinke of Pigeon Falls, Glen (Shari) Steinke of Winona, MN and Gary Steinke of Barron; a daughter, Edna (Timothy) O'Dell of Clarksville, TN; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a special nephew, Richard Howenstein.

In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was preceded in death by a son, David; a grandson, two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Whitehall with Pastor Peter Jonas officiating. Burial will be in the Hay Creek Cemetery in rural Fairchild.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
