Marie Harriet Mattison, age 95, of Pigeon Falls, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center Apartments in Pigeon Falls.

Marie was born December 10, 1920 in Strum, WI to Julius and Hilda (Halverson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed by Reverend Hjemboe in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Strum. Marie attended schools in Eau Claire, Strum and Mondovi. After high school, Marie attended the Eau Claire Teachers College. She taught in several rural schools before she married Lorentz Mattison on November 4, 1945 in Kenosha, WI. She resided on the family farm in the town of Hale for 67 years. Marie taught Sunday School for many years and was active in several part-time jobs. She loved gardening, baking, sewing and was very skilled at making a house a home.

Marie is survived by her three children, Susan (Tony) Paulson of Madison, Tom (Linda) Mattison of Scottsdale, AZ and Kathy (Dick) Dean of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Chad (Katie) Paulson of Mukwonago, Emily (Phil) Witkiewicz of Sun Prairie, Scott (Robyn) Mattison of Hailey, ID, Phil (Amelia) Mattison and Ashley Mattison both of Boise, ID, Shawn Dean of Minneapolis, MN, and Tiffany (Ryan) Radosevich of Lake Nebagamon, WI; a step-grandson, Michael (Marisha) Fusco of Alisa Viejo, CA; eleven great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Beau Paulson, Caleb, Elliot and Everett Witkiewicz, Layne, Taylor and Avery Mattison, Brynn Mattison and Dawson and Madison Radosevich; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorentz, who preceded Marie in death on August 8, 2012, Marie was preceded in death by three brothers, her twin brother, Juneau, and Jerald and Alton.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran of Pigeon Falls with burial in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery both in Pigeon Falls. Pastor Mary Ann Bowman will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
