Mavis Arleen Johnson, 81, of rural Ettrick died Friday, December 14, 2012 in her home. Mavis was born in the Town of Preston, (Trempealeau County), WI on May 8, 1931 to Nickolai and Minnie (Wivelstad) Hagen. She was united in marriage to Willard A. Johnson on October 27, 1951 in Blair. They were blessed with five children and she always was a loving wife and mother. Mavis was a partner with Willard in running the family Brown Swiss dairy farm. They won the Blair area Star Farmer Award in 1996. Mavis was an active member of North Beaver Creek Lutheran Church. She valued community and enjoyed being a Beaches Corner Northern Lights 4-H project leader, and sharing her baking and handiwork. One of her favorite activities with her husband Willard was dancing at celebrations. Survivors include hher husband of 61 years, Willard; children, Marlene McComas of Ft. Meyers Beach, FL, Wayne (Kathleeen) Johnson of Wausau, WI, Anita Riehl of Lincoln, NE, Marjorie (James) Hilliard of Chicago, IL, and Wendell (Vicky) Johnson of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Sara Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Brandon Riehl, and Amber Blaisdell; sister, Dorothy Halvorson; sister-in-law, Shirley Lange, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, David McComas; brothers and sisters, Nordahl Hagen, Melford Hagen, Olga (Ludwig) Ericksmoen, Nina (Albert) Hermanson, Mabel (Spencer) Knutson, Maynard (Marie) Hagen, Gladys (Helmer) Hermanson, Hartley (Phyllis) Hagen, Adeline (Norman) Nelson, Donald Hagen, and Norris Hagen; brother-in-laws, Melvin Halvorson and Erwin Lange. Family and friendare invited for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, at Jack Funeral Home in Blair. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick, WI. Pastor Elizabeth Albertson will officiate. Friends may also call one hour prior to service on Friday.
