Muriel Anita Gilbertson, age 88, of Pigeon Falls, died on Sunday, April 14, 2019 in the Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse.

Muriel was born on June 29, 1930 to Thorvald and Anna (Hansen) Lindbo. She graduated from the Taylor High School in 1948.

Muriel married Arthur J. Gilbertson on February 4, 1950 in Pigeon Falls. They bought Arthur's family farm in 1952. Together they owned and operated a 200 acre dairy farm, milking 26 cows and raising young stock. They also raised chickens and sold eggs, cucumbers and tobacco. They also grew strawberries and Muriel's favorite, blueberries. A huge garden was always planted for all of her canning and freezing.

Muriel and Arthur loved to dance at area dances and meet friends at the Green Meadows Supper Club. They had a strong belief in God and were active in their church. Muriel's strong faith in God carried her throughout her life.

Muriel volunteered at the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center. She loved to play cards, outings for supper and Sunday morning breakfast with family and friends.

Muriel enjoyed embroidery and made many items for family and friends. She loved to do her adult parties and visiting with all. She was one "social butterfly".

Arthur preceded Muriel in death on April 17, 2013. Muriel remained on their farm until moving to Pigeon Falls in 2018. She enjoyed the company of her close friends and family and the neighbors in the apartment building.

Muriel was very active and still drove the day of her stroke, visiting with family and friends that day.

Muriel missed Arthur terribly and now they are dancing in heaven together. Rest her memory of all that loved and shared in her life.

Muriel is survived by two children, Kathleen (Keith) Ekern of Blair and Jeffrey (Janet) Gilbertson of LaCrosse; her grandchildren, Lisa Ringlien, Stacy (Ron) Paulson, Lara (Chris) Seubert, Ian (Melinda) Ekern, Melissa (fiancé, Randy Joten) Gilbertson and Travis Gilbertson; her great-grandchildren, Bethany (Jake) Dejno, Ethan (friend, Maddy), Amanda Ringlien, Katarina Ringlien, Samantha (fiancé, Nate Gran) Severson, Colette (friend, Josh) Paulson, Shannon Paulson, Laramy (Melissa) Paulson, Aerianna Gage, Dayne Seubert, Lincoln Joten and Julianna Ekern; her great-great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Zaidyn Gran and Sofie Ringlien.

In addition to parents and husband, Muriel was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Alvern) Lindbo and a nephew, Paul Lindbo.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran of Pigeon Falls with burial in the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery both in Pigeon Falls. Pastor Mary Ann Bowman will officiate.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
