Myron Thomas Johnson, age 83, of Ettrick, died on Good Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Myron was born on April 3, 1932 in Gays Mills to Oliver and Thelma (Turben) Johnson. He attended the Johnstown Grade School and graduated from the Gays Mills High School.

Myron was the last Johnson to leave the Johnstown Valley. He was baptized, confirmed and married at the Mount Sterling Lutheran Church. In 1953, Myron married the love of his life, Marlys Alexander. They moved to Ettrick in 1957 and enjoyed life with family and friends of Ettrick. His life-long vocations included managing the Farm Bureau in Ettrick, Midland Co-op in Galesville and selling insurance for MSI.

Besides his family, one of the greatest treasures of Myron's life was having the opportunity to be a member of the Ettrick Lion's Club and felt privileged to receive the Melvin Jones Award. His church and faith were also important to him and he served on the Living Hope Lutheran Church council and taught Sunday School. Myron loved the outdoors and found great enjoyment hunting, fishing, golfing and hunting mushrooms. He also enjoyed curling as a pastime.

Myron is survived by three children, Marcia Emerson of Galesville, Marita (Charles) Annis of Sarasota, FL and Michael (Jean) Johnson of Bloomer; a sister, Elinor Rutz of Fort Dodge, IA; six grandchildren, Carissa (Greg) Schmitz, Dr. Dana (Avishek) Basu, Julie (Michael) Gurican, Katie (Jesse) Biter, Dr. Elizabeth (Dustin) Edwards and Thomas Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Braedon Schmitz, Kaylee Schmitz, Zachary Biter, Raelyn Gurican and Jia Basu; one nephew, Dr. Dan Rutz.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Living Hope Lutheran Church with burial in the Ettrick Public Cemetery both in Ettrick. Pastor Kary Jonas will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. in the Living Hope Lutheran Church in Ettrick and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
