HIXTON, WI

Myron Stanley Nerby, age 96, of rural Sechlerville/Hixton, went to be with the Lord and his loving wife, Inez, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca.

Myron was born in the village of Taylor on March 29, 1918 to Julius and Edna (Amlee) Nerby where he attended school and worked his summers on his grandparent's farm in Vosse Coulee. In his later teens his family moved to Hixton where he worked for the Green Bay Northwestern Railroad laying new track and repairing old across Wisconsin. It was at this time he met the love of his life, Inez Violett Lewison and were wed on November 30, 1941.

At the outbreak of World War II on December 7, 1941 he was drafted June of 1942 in the Army Air Corp. He completed boot camp in Little Rock, AR. Upon completion he was shipped out to the 13 ^th Air Task Group in Hickham Field, Hawaii.

The next three and a half years he spent island hopping through the South Pacific, finally putting boots on the docks in Tokyo. After service he settled in Milwaukee where he started his family while working for International Harvester Company tractor division. In November of 1946 he was blessed with a son, Dennis, and six years later in 1953 another son, Merlin.

In late 1953 Myron and his family moved to August where he owned and operated Cities Service Station. He later worked at Gunderson Chevrolet in Pleasantville, Peterson Chevrolet & Olds in Black River Falls, he taught two years in Milwaukee at the General Motors Training Center, drove for Hixton Egg Company, operated Vicker's Gas Station, and worked at Moore's Philips 66 in Hixton. Upon retiring, he did lawn mower and small engine repair at home.

Myron is survived by a son, Merlin (Deborah) Nerby of Ettrick; a daughter-in-law, Linda Nerby of Hixton; five grandchildren: Troy Nerby, David (Denise) Nerby, Ryan Nerby, Amanda Nerby and Ronald (Becky) Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Nick, Rachael, Rebecca and Hannah Nerby and Alistar Johnson; two sisters, Elvina Dambach of Black River Falls and Verna Stine of New Castle, CA; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Nerby of Mt. Pleasant, WI and Vera Nerby of Black River Falls.

In addition to his parents and wife, Myron was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; six brothers, Neulan, Arthur, Julian, Elvin, Harlan and baby Richard; two sisters, Annie Linberg and baby Rachel.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair. Pastor Dan Norman will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in the North Beaver Creek First Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ettrick.
