Myrtle Irene Melby, age 102, of Blair, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Myrtle was born on February 6, 1914 in Larkin Valley, rural Blair, to Charles and Ida Mae (Eid) Borreson. She married Clifford Melby on October 30, 1930 in Winona, MN. Clifford preceded Myrtle in death on May 5, 1983.

Myrtle and Clifford farmed in rural Blair. Myrtle enjoyed weaving rugs, crocheting, playing the piano, good coffee, baking, playing cards and having people over for lunch.

Myrtle is survived by a son, Donald Melby of Blair; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Myrtle was preceded in death by a son, Jerome; four brothers, two sisters and her two best friends, Helen Moen and Jo Herman.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fagernes Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Blair. Pastor Arlan Helstad will officiate.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
