Nira Johnson, age 82, of Blair, died on Saturday, April 23, 2016 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Nira was born on January 4, 1934 in Panama Canal Zone, Panama to Ramone and Basilia (Lopez-Hernandez) Reyes. She moved to the United States in 1959 and married Donald Johnson on May 23, 1969 in Paso Robles, CA
Nira worked as an accountant and secretary for the United States Civil Service in Camp Roberts, CA and later in Fort Carson, CO. Nira and Donald permanently moved to Blair in 1999.

Nira enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, singing, going on bus trips and loved her church. Nira was huge into sports, being an avid Denver Bronco's football fan and was voted the number one female athlete of the
year at her high school.

Nira was selected the Volunteer of the Year at the Grand View Care Center in Blair in 2006 and received the Civic Award during Cheese Fest in 2007.

Nira is survived by her husband, Donald; two daughters, Carla Dekeado-Andino of Colorado Springs, CO and Tina Botares; a son, Chuck (Shari) Dekeado of Applegate, OR; six grandchildren, Brandon Dekeado, Johnnie Andino, C.J. Dekeado, Logan (Andreina) Dekeado, Aleah Anderson and Gabriel Botares; a great-grandson, Anthony Dekeado-Segura; a sister, Judy (Larry) Van Horn of Denver, CO.

In addition to her parents, Nira was preceded in death by four brothers, Ramone, Victor, Thomas and Rafael Reyes and two sisters, Dolores Reyes and Lydia Gunn.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Blair Lutheran Church West with burial in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery both in Blair. Pastor Barbara Bruneau will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
