Norman Orin Froseth, age 80, of Pleasantville, died on Friday, February 21, 2014 in the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Norman was born on May 15, 1933 in Whitehall to Oswald and Nora (Gilbertson) Froseth. He was baptized and confirmed in the Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasantville.

Norman grew up on the home farm in the rural Whitehall-Pleasantville area. He graduated from the Whitehall High School in 1951. Norman married Marlyce Marie Machmeier in Mondovi on September 14, 1957. Together they farmed in the rural Osseo and Eleva areas before returning to the home farm in 1968. It became a century farm in 1990. They lived on the home farm until 1993.

Norman was a member of ALPCA for many years, collecting license plates, old farm tools, automobilia and many other items. He was definitely a collector. Norman was a member of the Farmer's Union, Democratic Party and the Chimney Rock Lutheran Church where he served as a past trustee. He also drove for Senior Services for many years.

Norman is survived by a brother-in-law, Richard (Karol) Machmeier of Eau Claire; a niece, a nephew, three cousins, a very special friend, Helene; other special friends, Marianne, Judy Whelan, Alan and Rose Fullmer, Geri and Bob Kolve, Gary and Diane Hillestad and Bill Lenard and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Marlyce, on April 6, 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chimney Rock Lutheran Church in rural Strum with Pastor Kary Jonas officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Pleasantville.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 4-6 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
