Pearl Gatha Mattson, 74, of Blair passed away Friday, March 27th, at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls, WI.

Pearl was born March 4, 1941, on the family farm near Canby, MN to Mark and Annie (Christensen) Fairchild. Pearl came from a wonderful family with 9 siblings. She attended Canby High School through the 12th grade. Pearl married Merlin Mattson on July 16, 1966, in Blair. They were blessed with 42 years of marriage before he passed away on September 1, 2008.

Pearl spent all her working years at Golden Plump in Arcadia, WI until her retirement in October 2006.
Pearl enjoyed gardening, baking, quilting and spending time with her family. She was an excellent cook and made many beautiful quilts. Above all else, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Pearl had been a resident of Pigeon Falls Health Care Center since March 2011. Many thanks to all of the employees of the nursing home, who have taken wonderful care of Pearl these past four years.

Pearl is survived by her five children; Dawn Wozney (Mark Burns) of Blair, Inga (Jerry) Probus of Ettrick, Bonnie (Gordy) Keeler of Whitehall, Thane Mattson (Joyce Schneider) of Blair and Marsha (Steve) Nyen of Blair; nine grandchildren; Adam and Maranda Wozney, Damon and Hayes Probus, Tyler and Garrett Keeler, Kody Mattson, Amanda and Nevin Nyen; four brothers; Lester (Edith) Fairchild of Watertown, SD, Daniel (Judy) Fairchild of Roanoke, IL, Edwin (Mary Ann) Fairchild of Canby, MN, Henry Fairchild of Canby, MN two sisters; Nina Alfaro of Waxahachie, TX and June (Benito) Pacleb of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Philippines, one sister-in-law; Patti Truax of Ettrick, one brother-in-law; Arnold Mattson of Blair, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin, a very special granddaughter, Sara Mattson, two brothers, Ivan Fairchild and Theodore Fairchild, one sister, Evelynn Guza, three sisters-in-law, Joyce Fairchild, Clarice Fairchild and Darlene Fairchild; one brother-in-Law; Dennis Truax.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in Blair Lutheran Church East, with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery, both in Blair. Pastor Barbara Bruneau will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7th, at Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to services at the church .
