Richard James Kildahl, 80, of Tomah recently passed away at the Lakeview Health Center in West Salem.

Richard was born August 25, 1934 in Whitehall to Einar and Olga (Foss) Kildahl. He married Patricia Webster on June 8, 1957 in Northfield, WI.

Richard graduated from the Whitehall High School and went on to serve in the United States Army for two years. He spent his career in law enforcement, joining the Eau Claire Police Department in 1957 and then served with the Wisconsin State Patrol until 1991. He taught at Northwestern University Traffic Institute and most recently was Project Chair for the Tomah Safety and Police Center.

Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia; his children, Jeff (Sharon), Jim (Deb), and Ann; two granddaughters, Katie and Hannah; two sisters, Mildred and Ruth, and a brother, Phillip.

In addition to his parents, his brother, Erling and his step-mother, Melva, preceded Richard in death.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday October 10th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Ground Round in Tomah, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Greater Wisconsin Alzheimer's Association or to the Lakeview Health Center in West Salem in appreciation for their loving care.
