Richard Thomas Lyga, age 75, of Whitehall, formerly of rural Independence, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Trempealeau County Health Care Center in Whitehall.

Richard was born on August 10, 1943 in Whitehall to Alex and Victoria (Misch) Lyga, the second youngest of nine children. Richard was raised on a farm in Blair and worked at Whitehall Ag in Whitehall and later at a feed mill in Clinton,WI prior to retiring from Styrene Products, Inc. in Arcadia.

Richard is survived by a daughter, Linette Lyga of Independence; three grandchildren who he loved dearly, Melody and McKenzie of Independence and Richard of Arcadia; a great-grandson who he thought the world of, Enrique; a brother, Rolly of Arcadia; a sister, Victoria "Vicky" of Whitehall and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by four brothers, Aloizie, Alex Jr., Stanley and Adolph; two sisters, Angeline and Eleanore; four nephews, Kenny, Greg, Alan and Laverne Jr. and two nieces, Linda Lou and Bonnie.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. No other services will be held.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
