Robert "Bob" Edward Guinn, age 93, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017 in the Sunrise Senior Living Center in Whitehall.

Robert was born on July 17, 1924 in Pulaski, IA to Isaac and Grace (Walter) Guinn. He graduated from the Pulaski High School in 1943 and soon after joined the United States Marine Corps. Robert proudly served during World War II in the Pacific Conflict at the battle of Okinawa and then a tour of duty in China as a Miltary Policeman before being honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Corporal.

Robert married Rosemary Aileen Harward of Douds, IA on September 7, 1946 in Bloomfield, IA. Rosemary preceded Robert in death on January 24, 2008.

Following his military service, Robert operated a Standard Oil service station in Bloomfield, IA and worked for Iowa Rural Electric. In 1951, Robert went to work as a lineman for Dairyland Power Cooperative where he was employed for 35 years, retiring as Substation Supervisor in 1986.

As a resident of Whitehall for over fifty years, Bob served on the City Council, chaired the Electric Utility Committee, organized the construction and placement of the star and cross visible during the holidays, chaired the annual Beef & Dairy Days festival and was a member of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department.

Robert was an active member of United Methodist Church, serving on the church council as a trustee and chaired the building committee. Between work and family, he found time to be a 4-H and Scout Leader, PTA president, board member of the Wisconsin Egg Producers and local American Legion commander.

A man of many skills and talents, over the years Robert enjoyed traveling, golf, bowling and his numerous hobbies and building projects.

Robert is survived by two sons, Fred Guinn of Peoria, IL and Brad (friend, Andrea) Guinn of New Richmond; a daughter, Lana (Gene) Pientok of Whitehall, seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Tom) Kopp of Whitehall, Matthew Guinn of Deer Creek, IL, Kyle Guinn of New Richmond, Krista (Ben) Fink of Minneapolis, MN, Casey Guinn of New Richmond, Jeremiah (Melissa) Pientok of Whitehall and Tyler (Shawna) Pientok of Arcadia; ten great-grandchildren, a brother, Rex Guinn and a sister, Merlene Oge.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by eight brothers, Noel, Walter, Elton, Russell, Raymond, Ronald, Merlin and Donald and three sisters, Leva Hill, Vera Shively and Jacquetta Zemo.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall. Chaplain Dwayne Winterberg will officiate.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post #191.

Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, Bob's family request that memorials may be designated to the Sunrise Senior Living Center or St. Croix Hospice Care.
