Robert Alan Kastad Sr., age 77 of Whitehall, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

Robert was born on September 6, 1936 in Whitehall to Robert and Amy (Tangen) Kastad. He graduated from the Whitehall High School in 1955. Robert served in the United States Army from May 9, 1956 to April 24, 1958.

Robert married Patricia Jensen on September 14, 1968 in Saint John's Catholic Church in Whitehall. Robert was a member of Carpenter's Union Local #1074 until his retirement in 1998.

Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, gardening, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers, traveling, casino trips and spending time with his family. Robert was very proud of the fact that he was a cancer survivor of 39 years.

Robert is survived by his wife, Pat; three children, Robert (Jill Thompson) Kastad Jr. of Pigeon Falls, Karen (David) Glenz of Oconomowoc and Julie Kastad of Chippewa Falls; two grandsons, Evan and Samuel Glenz; a brother, Charles (Connie) Kastad of Whitehall; two sisters, Shirley (Ed) Guza of Taylor and Lois (Bill) Pelowski of Buffalo City; many nieces, nephews and special friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church in Whitehall with Father Woodrow Pace officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post #191. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Independence.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
