Ronald Allen Solberg, age 77, of rural Ettrick,  passed away on Monday, December 9 ^th , 2019, at his home after a courageous, almost four-year battle against Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).

Ronald  was born on September 27 ^th , 1942, in Galesville, WI, to Arnold and Alvera (Johnson) Solberg.

Ron attended Wayside School, which was a one room country school, through 6 ^th grade, and finished his schooling in Galesville, graduating from Gale-Ettrick in 1961. Ron attended Wisconsin State College in River Falls, graduating with a teaching degree in 1966. Ron met his wife Carol (Walker) while he was in college. They were married on March 25, 1967 in River Falls, WI.

After college, Ron taught grade school for a sort time, then taught driver's education for the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District, as well as giving driving instruction to adults and some students from neighboring schools. He taught driver's education until his retirement and was the owner of Right Way Driving School. Ron was also a substitute mail carrier for many years, as well as farmed on his home farm.

Ron was a lifelong member of French Creek Lutheran Church, where he served in various positions on the church council and as a member of the foundation board, ushering, and helped with the cemetery mowing. Ron was a past member of the Ettrick Lions Club and was a present member of the Old A's Automotive Club. He had a great interest in old cars. He proudly owned three classic cars, which he brought to car shows and drove in local parades.

Ron is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Cynda (Dave Carlson), Ronda (Sean McHone) and son Theron (Rebecca) Solberg. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isaac McHone, Delilah Solberg, and Pierce Solberg, and a step-grandchild, Megan Carlson. His is also survived by his two sisters, Colette Solberg and Roxanne (Peter) Cavers, his uncle Larry Wooldridge, and sisters-in-law Kae (Richard DeWitt) Walker, and Peggy Walker.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins Gene Barnes and Steven Haugen and his brother-in-law, Paul Walker.

Ron asked to give a special thank you to all the people that donated blood, which he was dependent on for the last part of his life. He also wanted to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System for their excellent care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the French Creek Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick.  Pastor Anna Sorenson will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
