Ronald James Wilcziek, age 82, of Whitehall, died on Thursday, August 4, 2016 in his home with his wife and caregiver by his side. He was in great hands with the Gundersen Hospice Care of LaCrosse.

Ron was born on August 9, 1933 in Saint Paul, MN to Roy and Dorothy (Evans) Wilcziek. He married Gert Bisek on March 25, 1986 in Postville, IA.

Ron was a professional painter for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1992. Ron and Gert retired in Whitehall. Ron then took up horseshoes for twenty years. Together they traveled by Amtrak to many different states pitching in world tournaments. Ron enjoyed riding the train and looking at the scenery rather than driving.

Ron was also a remarkable cook and baker and always enjoyed stirring up delicious meals. He enjoyed watching cooking shows, reading, gardening, fishing and feeding the birds.

Ron is survived by his wife, Gert; five sons, Jeff (Jackie), Mark, Tracey, Kelly and Dean; a sister, Jan Nardini; a sister-in-law, Nancy Lindstrom; two nephews, T.J. and Dustin and many grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a sister, Gale Forbes; a half-brother, Charles Lindstrom and a brother-in-law, Victor Nardini.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall with Father Woodrow Pace officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall.
