Ruth Catherine Paulson was called home to be with her Savior on August 21, 2015.

Ruth was born on April 9, 1923 in the town of Arcadia, Trempealeau County, WI to Bruno and Lillie (Schorbahn) Herbert. She lived in the Arcadia area and attended Cowie Grade School in Buffalo county and graduated from the Arcadia High School in 1940. Ruth moved to Pigeon Falls in 1941 with her parents and married John H.T. Paulson on June 30, 1943. She farmed with her husband in the town of Pigeon until 1974 when they sold the farm and built a new home in the country, which they sold in 1994 and moved to a duplex in Pigeon Falls.

Prior to and after marriage Ruth did child care in Eau Claire and in the Whitehall area. She was employed at the Pigeon Falls Store for 21 years and retired in 1985. Ruth is a baptized and confirmed member of the American Lutheran Church in Arcadia and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls and its various organizations.

Surviving family includes two daughters, Roxanne (Bob) Guse of Fall Creek and Jolyne (Ken) Thoreson of Vonore, TN; a granddaughter, Shannon Guse of NY ; a grandson, Derek (fiancee, Tiffani Bono) Guse of Tampa, FL; two great-grandchildren, Ignacio "Iggy" and Liliana "Lili" Rosado; a brother, Cordell (Sonja) Herbert of Osseo; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, John, who died on September 24, 2010, Ruth was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne and Terry; two sisters, Ayres Jean Herbert and Anna Lou Bloch; four brothers, Wilbert, twins Dwaine and Dwight and Loren.

Besides loving her late husband, Ruth enjoyed dining, snowmobiling and golfing with him and was his caretaker the last three years of his life. Ruth was happiest with family, home and friends. She loved flowers, reading and loved listening to her great-grandchildren play their violins. Ruth enjoyed the Packers, Badgers and Brewer games. She believed in angels and overcame many health problems because of prayer, faith and determination.

The family would like to thank the Grace Lutheran Syverson Home and Mayo Clinic Hospice for the kindness and care given to their Mom.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran of Pigeon Falls with burial in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery both in Pigeon Falls. Pastor Roger Benrud will officiate.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
