Ruth Thompson, age 87, of Blair died on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Ruth was born on November 16, 1927 in rural Blair to Oscar and Belle (Brekke) Olson. She married James Thompson on May 25, 1946 in Blair. James preceded Ruth in death on January 6, 1995.

Ruth was employed as a nurse's aide at the Grand View Care Center for twenty years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed baking, knitting, playing cards and visiting with her family and friends. Ruth was a member of Blair Lutheran Church East and was active in its various organizations.

Ruth is survived by two children, Denny (Betsy) Thompson and Ollie Jo (Larry) Hill both of Blair; three grandchildren, John Thompson of Delafield, WI, Jay (Dana) Thompson of Blair and Patti Jo (Craig) Monson of Eau Claire; six great-grandchildren, Drew, Darian, Austin and Avery Thompson, James and Sadie Jo Monson; three sisters, Helen Amundson and Betty Fremstad both of Blair and Bernice Salzwedel of Ettrick; a brother, Norman Olson of Pigeon Falls.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by five sisters, Irene Everson, Ovidia Gilbertson, Bertha Thompson, Edna Kelly and Clara Odemoe; three brothers, James, Edwin and Odell Olson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Blair Lutheran Church East with burial in the Rest Haven Cemetery both in Blair. Pastor Barbara Bruneau will officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
