Sharon L. Sweno, age 74, of Blair, WI died on Monday, September 23, 2013 in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.
Sharon was born in La Crosse on September 19, 1939 to Donald and Doris (Swanger) Hardie, at the age of one she moved to Blair with her parents. Sharon Graduated from Blair High School in 1958. She attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa for one year, then transferred to St. Francis School of Nursing where she completed her 3 year Registered Nurses degree. Sharon began her career at Luther Hospital in EauClaire, WI. She then Married Ellsworth Sweno on May 31, 1964 in the First Lutheran Church in Blair, WI. Sharon's career in nursing took her too many local hospitals and nursing homes; she retired in 2005 from the Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Sharon held a strong faith her entire life, she was the church organist in the Blair Lutheran Church for many years and taught piano lessons for more than 30 years. She was always willing to donate time to her church and community. Sharon served on the Tri-County ambulance board for 10 years. Her true joy in life was her family and grandchildren and will forever be remembered for her love of music.
Sharon is survived by two children; Sarah (Calvin) Lebakken of Blair, WI; David (Connie) Sweno of Fountain City, WI; a brother Ardin (Judith) Hardie of Blair; Sister Kyle (Russell) Engebretson of Black River Falls, WI; Brother Garland (Bonnilyn) Smith of Galesville, WI and Seven grandchildren Justin, Kristin, Kelsey, Seth, Taylor, Jordan and Nicole. Two sister-in-laws; Wadena Sweno of Black River Falls and Linda (Ralph) Lusk of Hixton, WI and a brother-in-law Wayne (Margarete) Sweno of Blair , a special friend Francis Eith of Verona, WI and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ellsworth and two sons, Stephan and Kris and a brother-in-law Carl.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in the North Beaver Creek Parish, faith building, rural Ettrick, WI. Rev. Liz Albertson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 5 till 8 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair, also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Cemetery.
