She was born on March 5th, 1940, in Colchester, England to Thomas and Mabel (Roberts) Hatch. Shirley spent her childhood growing up in Colchester and later moved to London. After she finished high school she attended nursing school. Bernie was stationed in England where they met and a few years later she moved to America. On December 23rd, 1961 Shirley married her Best Friend and Love of her Life Bernie in Racine, WI. In 1962 they moved to Franklin, WI and later moved to Curran Valley in Hixton and farmed. During this time they had three wonderful children Sue, Steve and Sandy.
Shirley had a happy go lucky personality that always brightened a room. She always said to live life to its fullest in which she did with her time here. She loved her family-- spending time with her kids, grandchildren & special friends and all family get-togethers. She loved to travel, enjoyed reading, shopping, spending time on her computer and the latest technology devices as well as swimming and walking along the beach. Shirley had a way of making each person feel special – to know her was to love her.
She is survived by her loving husband Bernie; three children, Sue Bradley of Ettrick, Steve (Norene) Beck of Blair, and Sandy(Alan Grass) McDougall of Blair and six grandchildren, Justin(Alisa) Bradley, Jordan Bradley, Jeremy(Kelsey) Beck, Jessi Beck, Macy(Jordan) McDougall and Drew McDougall. She also is survived by her sister Audrey Knight of Missouri, Jimmy & Bonnie Beck (sister & brother-in-law) of Blair, Lael Richter (sister-in-law) of Racine and many other nieces & nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Tom & Mabel Hatch, Art & Alice Beck (mother & father-in-law), Norita Beck (sister-in-law), Jerry Knight (brother-in-law) and Eddie Richter(brother-in-law).
In celebration of Shirley's life, family and friends are invited for visitation from 5 pm to 8pm on Thursday, July 25th, at Jack's Funeral Home, 115 W 4th Street, Blair, WI. Memorial Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 26th at Blair Lutheran Church-East Building, 419 S. Urberg Ave, Blair.
