Shirley Eleanor Ryan, age 84, of Whitehall, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in the Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall.

Shirley was born on October 16, 1933 in Irvins Coulee, rural Whitehall, to Selmer and Emma (Engen) Johnson. She married Wallace Ryan on October 10, 1951 in Whitehall.

Shirley was employed in the dietary department at the Tri-County Memorial Hospital and also farmed with her husband, Wally. Shirley enjoyed cross country skiing, sledding, gardening, crossword puzzles and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Wallace; three sons, Glen (fiancee`, Karen Monson), Gene and Scott all of Whitehall; five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and a sister, Elaine Kupka of Pigeon Falls.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Hanson and Hazel Foss and two brothers, Spencer and Rodney Johnson.

Private family services will be held.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
