Shirley Marilyn Stanford, age 93, of Blair, died on Friday, February 13, 2026 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Shirley was born on March 20, 1932 in Ladysmith, WI to Clifford and Mildred Hvass. She was raised on their farm in Kennan, WI. Shirley attended Fairview Country School where her father was the one room schoolhouse teacher. She graduated from Hawkins High School, the Teacher's College in Superior, WI, UW LaCrosse and UW Eau Claire with her Master's Degree in Elementary Education.

Shirley married Donald Stanford on October 13, 1955.   Donald preceded Shirley in death on June 12, 1995.

Shirley was an avid quilter and loved to travel, read and dance.

Shirley is survived by three daughters, Sheryl (Allyn) Johnson, Tammy (Kent) Simonson and Karen (James) Thompson; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Carol Weber.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a sister, Marlys Hammer and a great-granddaughter, Millie Simonson.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in Blair Lutheran Church West (Zion) with burial in the Rest Haven Cemetery both in Blair.  Pastor John Ashland will officiate.
