Stanley August Ressel, age 92, of Independence, died on Monday, September 11, 2017 in the Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall.

Stanley was born on August 25, 1925 in rural Arcadia to Clemence and Maggie (Weirsgalla) Ressel.

Stanley served in the United States Army and worked on various farms and was also employed at the mill in Elk Creek.

Stanley is survived by a sister, Praxeda "Pat" Pogreba of Independence and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a brother, Harold and two sisters, Anna Johnson and Marie Berg.

No services will be held as Stanley donated his body to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Body Donor Program.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
