Steven Lyal Mitchell, age 56, of rural Blair, died on Sunday, May 30, 2021 in his home.

Steven was born on January 31, 1965 in Waukon, IA to Ray and Lorraine (Schellhammer) Mitchell.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Rossville Presbyterian Church in Waukon, IA.  Steve graduated from in Waukon High School and NICC in Calmar, IA.

Steve worked as a mechanic for Rodger Honne's garage in Waterville, Leadfree in Waukon, Jim's DX in Waukon, Trosinski Trucking in Galesville and LaCrosse Truck Center where he was still employed.  Steve was an avid football and basketball fan.

Steve is survived by his two children, Maygan Kujak and Travis Mitchell; his three grandchildren, Nora, Avery and Owen Kujak; his parents, Ray and Lorraine Mitchell; a brother, Jeff Mitchell; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Rebecca Boe and her daughter, McKenna.

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Martha Schellhammer, Lyal and Merle Mitchell, Ora and Bessie Mitchell and Frieda Vieth.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair.

Graveside services and burial will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, IA.
