Steven James Moen, 70, of rural Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Steve was born in Galesville, WI on September 24, 1948 to James and Ethel (Jacobson) Moen. He attended the Disco, Black River Falls and Taylor schools.

Steve married Selina (Semb) Moen on August 6, 1988 in Pigeon Falls, WI. Steve had three wonderful children, Steven Danial and Jacqueline Maureen from a first marriage and Michelle Elizabeth born June 12, 1989. He also had two awesome grandsons, Christian James (CJ) and Bryce Robert.

Steve worked as a farmer and a logger for a good part of his life, working side by side with his dad, James, for many years. Later, Steve's son, Dan, joined the logging business too. Three generations working together.

In later years, Steve worked as a timber buyer. He was known for his honesty, hard work, contagious sense of humor, friendliness, the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone, and end up being really good friends.

Steve's hobbies throughout the years have been hunting, fishing, tractor pulling, tractor rides, going for quiet drives in the country, taking vacations out west, spending time with family and his devoted dog Otis, and doing anything with his grandsons. He was also an avid football fan and loved to watch his Minnesota Vikings, good naturedly taking ribbing from his Green Bay Packer fan friends.

Steve is survived by his wife Selina; daughters Jacqueline (Mike) Moen-Kadlec of Taylor and Michelle Moen of Melrose; two grandsons, CJ and Bryce of Black River Falls; a daughter-in-law, Diane Moen-Ross of Black River Falls; two sisters, Claudia (John) Singleton of Black River Falls and Jane Moen of Blair; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents James and Ethel, Steve was preceded in death by his son, Steven Danial; an infant daughter Corrie Lynn, his grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church with burial in the Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Cemetery both in rural Taylor. Pastor Lowell Bolstad will officiate.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
