Sylvia Belle Larson, age 91, of Pigeon Falls, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls.

Sylvia was born on July 31, 1921 in Jackson County, WI to Ole and Nettie (Nelson) Gabriel. She married Owen "Mike" Larson on July 19, 1941 in Blair. Mike preceded Sylvia in death on January 23, 2005.

Sylvia was employed as nurse's aide at the Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall for over 30 years. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls and was active in its various organizations.

Sylvia enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking.

Sylvia is survived by three children, Michael (Rita) Larson of Kenosha, Gerald Larson of Eau Claire and Gloria Schaefer of Winona, MN; nine grandchildren, Todd (Terrie) and Tony (Tracie) Larson, Tracey (Rick) Callow, Scott Peterson, Jodi (Barry) Martens, Heather Kohnert, Dan (Tammy) Foss, Keith (Chris) Foss and Hailey Jo Schaefer; 13 great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Carly, Tara and Tanner Larson, RJ, Randy and Rachel Callow, Donovan Kohnert, Chad and Allie Peterson, Jacob Martens, Brittany Kropitolski and Megan Foss.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Karen Larson; two grandchildren, Tim Larson and Hillary Schaefer; three brothers, Norman, Orton and Lawrence Gabriel; four sisters, Esther Olson, Adeline Thompson, Wilma Johnson and Carolyn Olson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church with burial in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery both in Pigeon Falls. Pastor Dale Moe will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
