Truman James Everson, age 90, of rural Ettrick, died of cancer on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his children.

Truman was born on August 13, 1933 in Whitehall to Elmer and Evelyn (Johnson) Everson. He attended the Sunnyside Grade School and graduated from Blair High School. Truman received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls and his Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Truman served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1952.

Truman married Elsie Hoheim in 1962 in the North Beaver Creek First Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick. Elsie preceded Truman in death in 1982.

Truman dedicated his career to vocational agriculture instruction and farm training. He was an active member of the community, participating in various organizations and activities. Trumanserved as president of the Lions Club in Westby and president of the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. He was a dedicated member of the North Beaver Creek Church, and participated in the Wisconsin Christmas Tree Association, the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association and was a Wisconsin Tree Farm member. Additionally, he was involved with the American Legion. Truman was passionate about hunting, fishing, and athletics. He pitched softball for his 4-H team is his grade school years and participated in high school basketball and baseball. He attended almost all of his children's and grandchildren's athletic events over the years. Truman was a true Wisconsinite as he enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

Truman is survived by his children, Jeff (Sue) Loree of Medford, Jay (Nancy) Everson of Melrose and Joan (Patrick) Euler of East Bethel MN; one brother, Wallace of Hixton; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his special friend, Marilyn Bagniewski.

In addition to his parents and wife, Truman was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Alfred, Elmer Jr. and Gerald and his companion of eight years, Phyllis Sampson.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the North Beaver Creek First Lutheran Church (White building) with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick. Pastors John Ashland and Libby Howe will officiate. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Ettrick American Legion Post #354.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. in the North Beaver Creek First Lutheran Church (White building) in rural Ettrick and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society or the North Beaver Creek Lutheran Church.
