Verdis Gilman Thompson, 74, of Pigeon Falls, WI passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Verdis was born on May 16th, 1938, to Omer and Josephine (Neperud) Thompson in the town of Northfield, Jackson County, WI.
Verdis graduated from Whitehall Memorial High School in 1956. He married Lois Everson on August 16th, 1959 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Whitehall.
Verdis loved and was proud of his family, Triple Valley Farm, and the newly formed Peace Lutheran Church. He was proud to serve on church council, and various Co-op boards and committees. He was proud to receive in 1979 the Soil and Water Conservation Award and in 1999 the Life Time Achievement Award for Conservation.
Verdis is survived by his wife; Lois; five children, Lori (Randy) Berg, Kari (Joel) Anders, Nancy (Gary) Thorson, David (Cindy) Thompson, Jill (Bob Kastad) Thompson; 10 grandchildren Adam, Amanda & Aaron Berg, Samuel & Noah Anders, Jonathan, Rachael & James Thorson, Theresa & Mitchell Thompson. He is further survived by two sisters, Marion (Emerson) Vedell and Sharon (Steven) Lamberson, a brother- in- law Charles Dahl and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Morris and Opal Everson and two sisters, Janet Thompson and Violet Dahl, a niece Andrea Ogle and a nephew Steven Dahl.
Verdis requested a spring graveside service and burial in the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls.
The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family.
