Verna Joan Olson, age 92, of Fly Creek, died on Monday, September 15, 2014 in the Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall.

Verna was born on October 9, 1921 in the town of Chimney Rock, Trempealeau County, WI to John and Tillie (Jacobson) Carlson. She married Orris Olson who preceded her in death.

Verna and Orris lived and farmed in Fly Creek. Verna was also employed as a nurse's aide at the Pigeon Falls Nursing Home. Verna and Orris were members of the Zion Lutheran Church in Blair.

Verna is survived by two grandchildren, Amy and Mike; two sisters, Marlene of Eau Claire and Muriel of Washington State; a half brother, Orville (Velma) Gruntzel of LaCrosse.

In addition to her parents and husband, Verna was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy; two sisters, Adeline and Vivian and two brothers, Lawrence and Archie.

Memorial services will be held on Thurdsay, September 18, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home with burial in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery both in Blair. Pastor Barbara Bruneau will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
