Vernon L. Berg, age 81, of rural Taylor, WI died on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his home.
Vernon was born on July 29, 1932, to Gilbert (Olga Dahl) Berg on the farm in the Town of Ettrick.
He Married Lois Steien on November 13, 1964 at the Taylor Lutheran Church. Vernon was employed as a patrolman for the Town of Springfield, Jackson County.
Vernon enjoyed many things in life, his horses, playing cards, fishing, hunting and visiting with friends over coffee. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events with the Blair-Taylor Wildcats. Vernon was a school bus driver for over 15 years; he enjoyed seeing all the kids every day. He was an avid Packer and Badger fan; he loved touring while driving his John Deere Tractor.
Vernon is survived by his wife Lois of Taylor, two children, Vicki (Mark) Simonson of Taylor, and Jeffrey (Carol) Berg of Ettrick. One Brother Glenn (Yvonne) Berg of Blair, WI, and two sisters Mavis (Harold) Knutson of LaCresent, MN and Janice Larson of Pigeon Falls, WI, one aunt Bernice Stenberg of Blair, WI and his mother-in-law Margaret Steien. Four grandchildren Jordan (Stephanie) Simonson of Ohio, Mikayla Simonson of Taylor, Laura (Friend Andy) Howe of Holmen, WI and Lucas Howe of Ettrick, WI Vernon is also survived by many nieces, nephews and fiends, and a special friend Lucky dog.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Helmer Steien, sister Jeanette Brooks, three brother-in-laws Maynard Larson, Francis Brooks, Robert LaFleur, a niece Marilyn Ness and a nephew Steven LaFleur.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday August 4, 2013 at 1:30 pm. in the Taylor Lutheran Church in Taylor, WI. Rev. John Ashland will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday August 3, 2013 from 4 till 8 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Sunday. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rural Taylor.
