Virginia Ann Howard, age 88, of Whitehall, died on Friday June 19, 2026 in the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls.

Virginia was born on April 6, 1938 in Winneshiek County, IA to Julian and Stella (Overhaug) Myhre.  She graduated from the Spring Grove High School in 1955.

Virginia married Milton Howard on November 12, 1955 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, MN.  Milton preceded Virginia in death on October 29, 2001.

Virginia farmed all her married life and was employed by Tri-County Memorial Hospital/Nursing Home from 1993-2013. She was currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum and was a member of its women's organizations.  Virginia enjoyed music and was the substitute pianist at Chimney Rock Lutheran Church for several years.  She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to their visits and attending their school events.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Bruce (Allene) of Whitehall and Brent (Erin) of Omaha, NE; a son-in-law, Jeff (Pam) Spitzer of Foley, AL; grandchildren, Kyle (Mallory) Spitzer, Eli Spitzer, Alysha (Ted) Ravnum, Alonda (Mitch) Schamaun, Benton Howard, Everleigh Howard and Charleigh McCarter; great-grandchildren, Allie Grace Spitzer, Eden Spitzer, Leah Spitzer, Lane Schamaun, Will Schamaun and Vannder Ravnum; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Spitzer; brothers, Mervin, Gerald and Jerome and sisters-in-law, Terry, Ruthann and Myrna.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the Trinity Cemetery both in Spring Grove, MN.  Pastor Lane Zaffke will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
