Wallace "Wally" LeRoy Johnson, age 89, of Whitehall, died on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Wally was born on November 8, 1928 in Whitehall to Melvin and Cora (Evenson) Johnson. He married Phyllis M. Bagniewski on September 6, 1952 in Arcadia. Phyllis preceded Wally in death on February 2, 1999.

Wally served in the United States Air Force. He farmed and was also employed with Lunda Construction. Wally enjoyed hunting, bowling, stock car races, watching the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers and life in general.

Wally is survived by his sister, Charlotte Goplin of Pigeon Falls; three sisters-in-law, Veronica Bagniewski of Arcadia, Marilyn Bagniewski of Holmen and Louise Bagniewski of Galesville; several nieces and nephews and their families and a special friend, Lois Winsand.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church in Whitehall with Father Kennedy officiating.   Military rites will be conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post #191. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Arcadia.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall where a Christian prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. followed by a parish rosary. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
