Warren Harding Herried, age 95, of Whitehall, died on Saturday, November 25, 2017, in the "Noel Manor Retirement Living" assisted living apartments in Verona.

Warren was born on September 11, 1922 in Black River Falls to Wendell and Effie (Knutson) Herried.

Warren graduated from the Black River Falls High School in 1940. He attended Tennessee Technological University on military assignment during World War II in preparation for his aviation duties in the United States 8 ^th Air Force.

Warren married Virginia M. Christianson on April 6, 1942 in Milwaukee. They moved to Whitehall in 1954 and purchased the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store that they owned and operated for 35 years prior to their retirement in the fall of 1988. Warren was also actively involved in managing real estate properties and other personal investments.

Warren enjoyed travel, including many fishing trips to Canada, and spending winters at the family seasonal home in Bonita Springs, FL. He was a devoted Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and an avid hunter, fisherman and boating enthusiast most of his life, often spending time at his lake cottage on Lake Arbutus at Hatfield.

Warren was selected and very thrilled to fly to Washington D.C. on one of the Veterans' Honor Flights that featured visits to the nation's capitol, military monuments, and other historic sites.

Warren is survived by his son, Richard, of Verona, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Verna Jergens, of Onalaska.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Virginia, who died on January 1, 1997, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall with Pastor Thomas Elliott officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Burial with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #200 will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
